Relax and worry not a Stories of blossom review
If you don’t like games that are violent, have complex controls, or are stressful, but enjoy cute and cuddly stories with heart-felt advice, this is the game for you.
Stories of Blossom is a trilogy of stories where you as a young child try and solve a series of problems that each have a lesson behind them. From the kingdom of the crumbles to a strange island, you as Clara learn that life isn’t always as it is made out to be. From not worrying about what you can’t control, to knowing that fame and fortune are not everything, this game is truly an underrated treasure, see what I did there?”
Gameplay:
The gameplay is very menu based, with you having to simply navigate the interface and select a choice. This game works with controllers, as well as a mouse and keyboard, so you have multiple options.
Upon the first launch of the game, the game will come up and talk, showing you how to navigate the interface, and to select options. Once you have configured the games settings to your preference, it’s time to begin the game. For me as a blind player, I turned on the reading of menus, and narration of scenes. Each adventure begins with a cute little cut scene between grandfather and granddaughter, where a problem is discussed and then the adventure begins.
Graphics and audio
I can’t really discuss graphics, but the audio description was perfectly done, revealing the characters in the story. The hook for example was a hook dressed in clothing. The captain of the ship in the third story was indeed a wheel. And while the screen reader does seem to lag in some places, there is no rush to make a choice, so you are free to take your time with it.
One other thing that I will point out is that I am not good at puzzles. The ability to get hints on what to do, and even find solutions was extremely helpful. Inside the game menus, you can even catch up on the story, look in your character’s backpack, and save the game manually if you need.
Final thoughts
One last note before I give my raiding. This is an apology to the developer. I had meant to do this review months earlier, but family loss, and work took a huge tole on me, and I was not in a good place. I want to thank you personally for giving me a review copy and granting me the opportunity to review this title.
My overall raiding is a solid and perfect 10 out of 10. There are not enough heart-warming titles out there, especially ones that are accessible. Stories of Blossom hits that theme right on the blossom. Well done soft leaf studios.
